>My sentiments exactly < s >. Of course, if one is a consultant billing by the hour, perhaps one would like the task to take as long as possible to increase revenue. However, IMHO, this is not very ethical behavior. If the $50 for the book reduces deveopment time from 2 weeks to 2 hours, then it seems perfectly justified to me to build the $50 for the book into the invoice.

>Of course, I could be wrong....You mean you'd bill them $50 for a book that you would keep yourself, to learn stuff that could be used for other projects and other of your own clients, instead of charging them for the full two weeks of time you'd save? Can't do that! You cannot bil for a *book*! You are the consultant. You are suppossed to know everything and bill accordingly. Not for books! Sheesh! Don't you know that's against the 'rules'? <g>
