Just thought I'd mention that I've bumped up against these length limits in VFP a couple times too. For example, if you do an APPEND FROM using the TABLE menu option with a lot of fields, you will get an error because a variable gets truncated when the total string length exceeds some number. I haven't counted what the limit is, it may be something like 100 or 128. Of course the same APPEND, SQL, etc. work fine in the Command window or a program.
