IMO VFP indexed searches are so fast, even on very large tables, that I doubt that the bloat issue would be a noticable factor. I think other factors such as CPU speed, CPU load, memory speed / availablity, cached data, etc, would be more of a factor iro search speeds than whether the CDX file is bloated somewhat or not. One must weigh up idealistic and theoretical considerations with real world deployment issues and working environments.
