My experiments indicate that OldVal() and CurVal() work both with and without buffering (the help seems to indicate otherwise). In other words, trigger functions (for instance, to update another table, or for an audit trail) would work, whether you use buffering, or not.

Programming is identical for both cases.

My article on triggers (http://www.levelextreme.com/Magazine/June2002/Page21.asp) has an example of changes in one table updating another table. The code is the same, whether you use buffering or not.
