>Last night I watched a TV show titled "Panama - the deception". It was about government and press (mainly U.S., but others too) statements and coverage during that war.

>Makes one wonder what the REAL story is behind Iraq (the story leading to the action in Panama was very "interesting", to be sure) and what calamities are in store for the people of Iraq.
Unfortunately, it seems we will know the full truth of
many such issues only in a few decades. It might be interesting to search for sources outside the U.S. (or whatever country you want to know more about) - but many of those may also have uncomplete information, or be biased themselves. Probably both.
Perhaps you may want to search the Internet for "Plan Condor". Be forewarned - whatever you find will likely be very unpleasant reading. In summary, a few decades ago, several South American dictatorships (Argentina, Chile, Brasil, Bolivia, and Paraguay, I think) had a secret agreement to assist each other in eliminating political opponents. It seems they were assisted by the U.S. CIA - apparently the U.S. government thought that the military dictatorships were the lesser evil, compared to the perceived communist threat.
