Hi All,

We are experiencing a problem where our clients running WINNT occasionally get corrupted DBF files. Currently we only have 1 example of a corrupted DBF. We purchased FoxFix hoping to include it with our software to help reduce the number of these sorts of problems.

There is reason to believe that the application may terminate abnormally, having looked at a few Dr. Watson logs (C5 errors - which we are *hoping* to clean up by doing some manual garbage collection, but this is besides the point), and, most of our clients run laptops, so there could be power shortages and the machines might shut down improperly - these sorts of things we can't avoid. This is what I suspect is causing the initial corruption of the DBFs.

One of our clients has sent us an example of the corrupted DBF files, and we tried to open it up with foxfix to see what could possibly be going wrong (bad header, etc), but having a closer look at the file in a regular hex editor, the complete file was NULL, from BOF->EOF!

Has anybody ever seen this sort of thing?

Any help would be appreciated.

Keith
