When in Menu Designer, assign Bar #'s (textbox between Result and Options) so you would now how to reference it later.

You'll have to issue SET MARK OF BAR command every time variable changes. I would suggest that you make this variable a property of your application object and add method to the application object that you would call to change value of that variable. In that method you can issue SET MARK OF BAR also. Alternatively, you can use ASSIGN method of that variable.
