Thanks for responding. This is VFP version 7 (hence the category of the post). What's weird is that DOEVENTS did nothing to refresh the display of the thermometer. If I insert INKEY(.01, "H") to force a pause, then the display updates just fine.

I'm at a loss as to why I have to force a pause to get the display to update when this isn't the case in the other situations where I use the class.

The other difference I just thought of is that the thermometer is getting updated while looping through a cursor (result of SELECT), as opposed to just a table.
