>The Messages Area on the VFP forum is a fine place to
ask for help. It’s also a meeting place where answers regularly are the
offset of more fundamental
discussions. Occasional jokes keep things relaxed. I like that all. However, IMO, while the quality of the answers is fine most of the time, the quality of the
discussions is too often somewhat poor.

>I propose that we ask Michel Fournier to create a new category in the VFP-forum:
Fundamental Discussions. The crux of that category is that people
know that it’s meant for fundamental discussions, that those who decide to participate in a thread know that commitment and time are expected by the other participants, that this category has its own etiquette and that ideally the category has certain unique possibilities that are helpful for making the discussions of high quality. There's no need for a moderator and everybody can participate, no matter the degree of expertise.

I'd say that's the focus of the current messages area. I'd say everyone wants the best high quality content as possible. Despite the fact that the structure of a messages area is free format and short or long threads are created with short or high amount of technical content, I'd say that we always try to do our best in reaching that goal.
