Is there a maximum length for dbc names within the framework? The length of the key within the metadbc table is 10 characters. Is this an undeclared upper limit for database names?

I have just moved from a project where the "project name" just happened to be less than 10 characters to one where it just happened to be greater than 10. It was only when I was a little way down the track that the issue raised its head.

When I call a form from the menu MM barks at me and says it cannot find the (curtailed)name of the database in the \data directory. The curtailed form is the first ten characters of the project and dbc name.

I have tried changing the length of the cKey field within metadbc and then changing the value of the key but it still wants a dbc with the short name.

What is driving this apparent 10 character limit?

Can anyone suggest a way out, short of starting over again?

TIA
