I have a application which extensively uses the dos compression program LHARK. This is called from Visual Fox Pro version 6 with a command such as “!lhark e filename”, which in most cases unpacks the specified lzh file. From time to time however, it does no unpack. Instead an error message appears in the DOS windows “the system cannot execute the specified program”. This also occurs in the packing command ie. “!lhark a filename *.*”.
Windows knowledge base suggest that long filename/directory may be an issue, however this is not the case here as only 8 character filename/directory names have been used .
It appears (but cannot be 100% sure) that this occurs under window 2000 Professional operating system.
When running the prg file or the compiles exe file from the command window within Visual Fox Pro, the problem does NOT occur. It only occurs when the procedure is compiled into an exe file and run from the windows run command line.
I would appreciate any advice on how to overcome this problem.
