The saddest thing to me about holidays has always been the many Vets I know that have never been able to attend ceremonies celebrating Veterans Day because they had to work! Yet so many civilian employees (some Vets, many non-vets) were able to attend every year due to having the day off as a paid vacation and chose not to attend ever.
