George,

The location of my resource file reads E:\VFP7Dev\foxuser.dbf (obviously you should replace this with the location of your file, remembering to include the name of the table in addition to the correct folder name).

You might check and make sure that the both the DBF and FPT files themselves aren't read only or system or hidden or some such. You might also make sure you -actually have- an FPT file to go along with the DBF (g). Also, try issuing SET RESOURCE OFF and opening the file as a table. Come to think of it -- have you checked the setting of SET RESOURCE as soon as you start VFP? Or, is your CONFIG.FPW or possibly your startup PRG setting RESOURCE=OFF somewhere???

Another thought: try making a NEW, EMPTY folder, changing the location of the resource file to that folder (ie, D:\Projects\MyNewFolder\foxuser.dbf), restarting VFP (thereby letting VFP create a new FOXUSER file in that new folder) and see if that helps.

If this doesn't work, I'll have to spend some more time in the Rodan position tonight...(bg)
