>I'm using VF5 currently and when I execute a 'set step on' the debugger opens. However, I'm unable to add variables to the watch window while the program is running in debug mode. I can cancel the program and add the variables then but it's a pain. I've done this a million times in other programs so I'm wondering if there is a setting or something that I'm missing.

I don't have VFP 5.0 installed any longer, and I can't recall if the behavior was different. I do know that in later versions you can add expressions to the watch window even when your application isn't suspended. I know that the debugger has changed over time, but I think of the changes as primarily for stability.

Just a WAG...do you run the debugger in a seperate window, or in the IDE? Tools | Options | Debugger.
