oooohhhh... yes, that makes perfect sense now. i guess i've gotten
into such a rut always using modal forms, i quit thinking about
how they actually work !!

thanks very much for you explanation.

when a modal form calls a non-modal form, does VFP run the
two forms in separate threads then ?
