How about changing form's caption in Resize event. If form minimized, use one caption, if restored, restore your original caption.

I am doing some very lengthy processing, so I minimize the app and show a percentage complete in the caption so this shows in the Windows Taskbar. I have minimal area to display a status when the app is minimized to the Taskbar. I would like to stuff more progress/status info into the tooltip so when you hover over the app button on the taskbar, the user can see progress. Much like a tooltip on an item in the system tray.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
