Yes. In the toolbar button that you specified is responsible for apparently completing the default value, what is the value in its cAction property?

Well, you can define custom states and actions almost anywhere and not just in VCX files. I quite often define custom actions/states in the forms where they are needed or used (in the form's Init or AfterLoad etc). However, they could be defined much higher up in the framework. There is always a chance that GoFish missed it.

Why not set step on in the click event of the toolbar button that starts all of this and see where it takes you.

Well the field name is nothing special to Fox so that doesn't look like the problem.
