If I understand your problem description it appears that the report reverts back to the original width setting after you try to change it. In this case I think that the framework might have a second copy of the report somewhere (a master copy) and if the working copy is different from the master copy it copies the master over the working file - reseting the width in the process.

I use this technique sometimes to check for file corruption and/or to prevent users from changing the working copy. Perhaps look for a second "master" copy.

>The problem's not solved, but I've narrowed it down somewhat. I'm working within someone else's very restrictive framework. He stores all the reports in DBFs and pulls them out at runtime. There's something in his framework causing the problem, because if I save the report out to an FRX, and save a set of data to run the report, I can run the report from the command window, and the width is fine.
