While I think the VFP team is great, I can't believe that when the 1/31/03 date was picked last August (before?), it was anything but wishful thinking at that time. I'd assume that because the plan was only to release that version as the 'first' to the real beta tester's and maybe to the DevCon attendees, that the expiration date was not really considered critical at the time.
