Hello,
I am running Windows XP Professional. I have a 20GB C drive. I would like to install a new 80GB C drive. I tried to use Symantec Ghost 2003 to clone the drive; unfortunately, I received an error about Windows Product Activation when I tried to boot from the new drive.
The cloning process appeared to go without a problem. The computer booted OK from the new drive and went to the password signon screen. When I entered my password and hit enter, I received the following error:
"A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. Error Code: 0x80090006."
I called Microsoft and they basically said that Ghosting was not a good idea - that it caused more problems that it was worth - etc., etc. They recommended a complete re-install of software to the new drive.
I would prefer not to have to re-install everything. Does anyone have any "positive" experience Ghosting a C drive? If so, I would appreciate a small step-by-step tutorial. If not, please let me know and I will set aside some time for the software re-install.
Thanks,
TFISHER
