>I'm looking for some advice as to what kind of products are available to scan documents into a VFP table. I've not tried to scan documents before and I'm not familiar with what kind of software is available and what results (output)it would produce. I would like to capture both the data to insert into a table and store a "picture" of the document for display. Any suggestions would be appreciated. TIA.

This is an interesting topic. Personally, unless really requested by the client, I would store all graphics outside the table, thus in a directory. Usually, I go with the primary key for the name of the file. So, I can easily locate the file automatically when needed to display it. If the client wants a logical name, then I will create a field in the table to store the name.

Having it outside the table always provide the flexibility to manipulate the image more easily for update, move, etc.

As for simplifying the process from VFP, I know there are some good 3rd party products that will ease the task. I just haven't tried any particular one. I always use the one that came with my scanner. It's a HP ScanJet 6300C. But, this one doesn't provide automation. If I would have the need to automate it from VFP, I guess I would have to look for a 3rd party product.
