Windows backup files, according to www.filext.com (list of file extensions).

Access the program with "Start | Programs | Accesories | System Tools | Backup".

If you don't have the backup program installed, go to the Control Panel, select the icon that installs programs, go to the Windows Setup tab, and select System Tools.

For Windows XP, see also http://www.cknow.com/ckinfo/acro_q/qic_1.shtml.
