Hi John.
I was Zapping the table just for illustrative purposes, to show it had no records. In the actual App, the file is not Zapped, but 'can' have zero records.

(I came about this problem on an App I upgraded from 2.6 to VFP 7.
It worked fine in 2.6 but not in 7 , and the problem was the different way VFP 7 treated the locking command with a blank file .
