I just sent this to TechRepublic in response to an artice about "simple database client solution using Access". I read another article from PC magazine that review data solution tools with no mention of VFP. I get MSDN and MCP magazines at my office the don't mention VFP (ok, one time, what a year ago, big deal). I am really getting tired of fighting uphill battles with the IT managers, of which most don't have a clue. They read publications, VFP is not in publications (FoxPro Advisor doesn't count, its marketed to users that already know how great VFP is). Any opinions?
What is it with you people (sorry, just venting)? Your site, other IT news providers, including magazines that say they are reviewing a cross section of development tools...LEAVE OUT VISUAL FOXPRO! Even Microsoft's MSDN and its newsletters hardly ever mentions VFP. I do not get it. VFP is quite a robust development environment. It is mega faster than any other data engine. The data environment is encluded at no extra cost. With free tables it becomes a very inexpensive small business tool but can handle a very large, dynamic client server/enterprise deployment. An application can be developed in much less time than VB or access. Its Web services and XML capabilities are as dynamic as any other. Version 8 is soon to be released and 9 is on the way. VFP is alive and well with quite a large development community (see
www.levelextreme.com (UT)). What gives? Why can't, won't or doesn't VFP get reviews and the recognition it should and deserves?
