Yes, I have installed both Outlook 97 and 2000 on a Win2k Workstation but not Outlook 98. I have had some problems with sending from some workstations, receiving a similar error. But these were users who were connecting from external locations (such as home), and only from external locations.

First thing I would check is to make sure the server address is correct. I deliberately set up bad server addresses on some workstations. Maybe some else did the same.

My problem was tracked to the sendmail account on our server. It seems some ports were closed to certain users.
