I have a form that has a listbox filled by an sql statement that creates a filtered list in "barcode" order from a flat parameterized view of 5 related tables. Right now there are approximately 11,000 records in the lowest level table.
Now the 2 users of this special, and complicated view are complaining that it is too slow.

Once the list box loads (and it takes a couple seconds to load without anyone else on the network) they select an item and load a second form that allows them to edit the record.

the claim is that it takes 6 seconds to load the form with the barcode list on it
and 17 seconds to load the data entry/edit screen once they have selected a barcode.
The data entry/edit form is complicated with 5 specific combo boxes and uses the view of the related tables --- but updates only the lowest level child table.

I have tweeked the parametized views to order by barcode and we have only a peer-to-peer Windows 98 network. The two machines that are working with this form are the slowest in the office --- Pentium II's and somewhere around 400 Mhz or so.

Considering the limitations of our hardware and network environment, is there anything I can do to further optimize the views or sql statements programmatically so that the forms load more quickly?

Thanks!
