Hi Winan,

There is a menu option off the main linux menu having to do with networking. If you click on this menu option, a form will come up. Be sure all the information about your network is entered into this form including:

Tab labled: Devices

IP address
sub-net mask
gateway

Hardware: I'm unable to get to the info without booting into RH 8.0

Tab labeled: Hosts

mine look something like:
IP Name Aliases

127.0.0.1 mail.smvfp.com mail localhost localhost.localdomain
192.168.1.116 jackson.smvfp.com jackson
192.168.1.117 leland.smvfp.com leland

192.168.1.51 peggy.smvfp.com peggy
etc
etc
Tab labeled DNS

Hostname: mail.smvfp.com

I have never run samba in a peer to peer network. I assume this is possible, but I don't know for sure. All of my experience with samba is within a Domain. At one time a least one Windows primary domain server was need to work with samba, since samba could not authenticate users into a Domain. Maybe someone that has setup a smaba file system in a peer to peer network will give us some help. How, it is possible to use your Linux computer to act as the Window's primary domain controller.
