I will not bore you will the track records of the various ISP’s I have had. They have been sold, out of business or impossible to do business with.

Last night I received four e-mail notifications from my ISP, AT&T Wideband, mailed within a span of 13 minutes. They all said the same thing. We have two AT&T accounts one for the Internet and another for Cable TV, and the two accounts are in names of different family members. Remember it was about 7 PM January 16th.

I was told that I had to consolidate my two accounts into one account for billing purposes and had to have each person whose name was on the respective bills give his/her authority to do so. Detailed instructions were given with the “proper forms”. After several paragraphs of all this nonsense it stated clearly that I had to accomplish all this by January 14th, 2003.

I sent the same reply to each of the e-mails expressing what a wonderful and professional job they had accomplished. I also suggested that they sent four back-to-back notices due to the lateness of the notification. That should have sped things up and made up for being late.

Somehow I get the feeling AT&T will not be a Wideband provider for long – at least not at my house.

P.S. I am considering smoke signals in place of the Internet, but am concerned that the EPA will not like it.
