I read it as a praise of old programs. I read a post, about 7 years back, that claimed Microsoft had hired Borland's chief architect. He was getting married, and wanted to stay in Culver City, so his buds at Borland could attend his wedding. Microsoft, as claimed by the piece, offered him a bigger bonus to leave before the wedding. He did. dBase withered.

ZD-Net seems to be a big proponent of non-Microsoft product. I went to reply that the foxpro he knew was not the one we have today, but when I saw that registration requirement - I said to myself - do I really need another 100 spam-mails everyday.

He must of been that guy that wrote all those grade averaging programs I heard about in the early nineties:-)
