VALIDATE DATABASE requires that database was open exclusively.

If started from the faster workstation, with nothing else running, it will load up in 8 seconds, from the slower, about 15 seconds. However, if it is started from the server, and then a second copy started from the fast workstation, that copy will take 2 minutes to load.
