If you work thru all the samples, including the 101 VB downloadables, there still is a lot going for it.
We would be able to put some more legs on VFP if we had the same, particularly when it came to imaginative UI's.
What we call "hacking" in VFP, you get for free in .NET (like sortable Grid columns, for instance).
