Sorry to butt in here.... but perhaps this will help.

It calls the PrimaryKey() in the CodeMine.prg when you press the New button when you have a Primary index assigned. This is how it builds it unique key. PrimaryKey() can also be called through code.

For a test... change the Primary index to a regular index and see if it still increments it for you when you drop that field on a form and hit new.
