What does the data in the file look like? Is it a comma separated file, a file delimeted with some other character, what? Look at using the APPEND FROM yourfile.dat TYPE DELIMITED or someother variation, not just APPEND FROM.

The only workaround I have found so far is to open the .dat file in Microsoft Excel, convert the text to colums (separated by the '|' symbol and then export it as a dBase file. Please help!
