Hi all -

I am going to be working on a project soon that can benefit from the running of a Visual FoxPro 6.0 "batch" application as a Windows NT 4.0 Service (on an NT Server).

Currently this "batch" application runs on the server, but requires that a "user" be logged on. For security this means the user must then lock the server, which then prevents other users (or an administrator) from logging on to perform other functions on the server.

If we can deploy this application as a Windows Service, it can execute even if a user is not logged on. There will be issues that will need to be addressed (e.g., error reporting/recovery) but I would like to begin to understand what's needed to do this, how stable or unstable a deployment like this has been for others that have gone down this road, and what others have experienced.

Can anyone provide me with some feedback or point me to sources that can help?

Thanks.
Al
