John,
I'm not sure why it would appear to work on some W2K machines. The NUL file is actually a psuedo device under DOS, and it doesn't exist in NT/2000/XP. Where it works, is there actually a file with this name? How is that particular drive formatted? FAT, FAT32, NTFS?
