I'm not sure why it would appear to work on some W2K machines. The NUL file is actually a psuedo device under DOS, and it doesn't exist in NT/2000/XP. Where it works, is there actually a file with this name? How is that particular drive formatted? FAT, FAT32, NTFS?

Why? don't know, I may try to find out, but probably not. Since the ADIR approach DOES work on both, and it only involves one more line of code, that's what I'll use.
