I recently changed an application I had, that was quite old, putting most of the tables in a specific folder into a databse container. Severeal tables I left as free tables. In the application, several programs opened these tables with a USE command at the same time the database was open.
There were also, in the path settings, two folders that contained tables I regularly used. As the context of the application had changed, I no longer needed the extra folder so I took it out of the "Set Path" command.

Immediately, I was no longer able to USE the free tables that were in the same folder as the database unless I specified a fully qualified name (drive, folder, etc) - otheriwse it said the file did not exist. The same problem and resolution occurred when I did a FILE() command to see if the file existed.

Oddly, as soon as I put the emtpy folder back in the PATH command - even though it was absolutely empty, everything was fine.

Is there some reason for this? Or is my diagnosis and solution merely coincidental.
