Like George was saying, VFP is event based. You don't need to make a loop to keep a form running. Getting your order entry screen working involves several issues, feel free to ask away.

I would suggest checking out the books at www.hentzenwerke.com. The Fundamentals book may be the best place for you to start. Hacker's Guide, Essential Techniques, and 1001 Things are all full of very good information.
