>Hi Bruce, and it was good to see you back here a few days ago. I had been wondering if you had moved to .NET or some other product.

I mean, sure you could have support as long as you left everything as-is, but what real value would that be to you and, equally, MS?

Hey, Jim. No .NET, I'm still using VFP7 - I've just been doing some heavy statistical work recently, and not a lot of coding. I wear 2 hats, developer & statistician - usually I'm a developer, but when we get short-handed, I'm sucked into statistical duty. I prefer app development, though.

No disagreement on NT support - I can see it fading already. Our newest Dells (GX260s) don't support NT, for one thing. And for another, we've had 2 MS security patches that caused major NT workstation problems in the past few months, many had to be re-imaged. I'm fairly sure that means MS is not testing patches on NT as well as they once did. Maybe they're subtly "encouraging" us to upgrade to XP soon.

I'm sick and tired of NT, frankly, and I won't miss it. After I've been personally using & testing XP for the past year, doing tech support for our remaining clunky NT machines is a real PITA.

In the meantime, everything is running terrifically on XP & Win2K Server. I can see which way the wind is blowing :-)
