Now is there an easy way for * me * to check the validity of the date considering it could be in several different format :).

Since there are so many date formats, I have moved to allowing date entry only via a popup calendar picklist. That way I never have to validate the inputted date! I use something I got from somewhere (?? I thought it was UT) called calendar.vcx. In the downloads in UT there is something called datepick.zip that people seem to like.
