Right! And your explanation is that these things take too much time.
Well let me tell you... there are plenty of things in a system and in VFP and in your application design and code that are way way more worthwhile to checkout and improve than the "cost" of opening a table.

And by the way, how would you figure that anything would be able to know WHERE to write that (new) last record without opening the table?
