>I was just wondering why foxpro marks records for deletion rather than physically deleting the records.

The designers of dBASE - on which FoxBase, FoxPro and VFP are based - evidently thought that this is the fastest way to do it.

I would not worry too much about the issue - just make sure you SET DELETED ON where it is appropriate, and have some routine to perform PACK on all tables, ca. once per month.

>I know you can pack the tables to permanantely remove them. Is there a way to tell it to physically remove them vs marking them?

No, you just mark them with DELETE, and do the PACK once a month, perhaps.

>Since it's just marking them, is there a way of undeleting them?

Yes, but I suggest you just consider the deleted records as deleted. For several reasons, I think that it can become quite complicated to recover deleted records.
