Well, this is easily handed by the programmer, using some index that discriminates deleted records, finding the deleted records, blanking them, and reusing them. This could be done in some base classes.
A built-in scheme in VFP could use the same approach.
However, for memo fields, the situation is more complicated, since they are of variable size.
I have tried in the past to recycle deleted records, but I don't currently think it is worth the trouble.
