Hi John,
VFP7 has a difference in the way it builds indexes - there is some discussion over on the WIKI
http://fox.wikis.com/wc.dll?Wiki~CDXBloat~VFP - but the index problem that we experienced was fixed just by changing to VFP7 from 6 - and it was similar to yours - data was OK but index occasionally missed a record. Changing to VFP7 doubled the size of the index which makes me think that some long standing problem has been addressed. Our data is stored on SBS Server 2000 and .EXE on work stations. We only use CDX's.
