John, that in itself does not mean its ok. What if lnRow is changed to a non-numeric value so that the IIF() cannot be evaluated? Just out of interest - is there a reason for the spaces after the second RGB function and its contents? -
"IIF(RECNO('mytest')=lnRow , RGB(255,255,255) , RGB  (0,0,0))", "Column")
Also, before the error happens do you see both highlight (FORE and BACK) colours as defined in your WITH...ENDWITH appear normally in the grid?
