Interesting, I never thought of Evan as a particularly unusual name. That's probably because my parents are friends with a couple with two kids, Evan and Tamar.
OTOH, I grew up with a boy named Ian who pronounced it with a long "i" (to rhyme with Brian). Took me a long time to learn that that's not the usual pronounciation. And my best childhood friend was named Teressa (pronounced Tuh-REH-suh)--I was in junior high before I met a Teresa.
BTW, and fwiw, the name data on that site comes from the 1990 census.
