Sorry I meant this to go in the chatter area of the chatter forum.

Just a few things that stand out:

1. Okinawa – we killed about 4000 of our own men – I know of no investigation as to why this occurred or anyone being punished. I guess this event is not a problem for those in charge or the general public. Few know about the details of this battle. The total losses of American Military Personnel who fought on Okinawa, was 50% of all our losses in the Pacific during WWII. As an aside my father was there and I do not think it was an event any human should have experienced.

2. WTC – perhaps 2000 to 3000 killed and many were foreign nationals. This is seen as a terrorist attack on our entire country. This is not acceptable.

3. Four Canadians killed by two United States Air Force pilots. The news says all of Canada is in an uproar and relations with the United States are strained.

By the way I read that 45% of the causalities suffered from the Gulf War were inflicted by our own troops. Many of those causalities were due to “reckless drivers of military vehicles” according to my sources, who were there and are creditable.

What are the criteria for an event to be important? Shear numbers of those killed, “media opinion” or what?
