Firstly, are the two tables related?
Second, what does the command button do...is it a Next/Previous type button? If so, perhaps the relationship is failing when you move the record.
Another possibility is that the processing that occurs when you click the command button does not save the currently select work area before doing its thing and then doesn't reselect the original work area.
If not, perhaps the processing is changing something. But it does sound like a work area problem. Strange, though.
