Are you sure the spinner is actually contained in the container? The above should work fine. To test, using Codemine elements, create a test form, drop a container on the form, edit the container and add a spinner. Set the spinner control source to this.parent.left (the containers left property). Run the form, click the spinner and watch it dance about <s>. I just did that here and it works fine.
