Thanks for the info on this...with a twist on the name of Symantec's Ghost. The price is right, too.

Here is my Friday wish. Let's say I want to reinstall Windows on a machine...perhaps even a different version of Windows. I would like be able to do the following:

1) Put a new drive in machine
2) Install and configure Windows on the new drive
* here's the wish
3) Have a program examine the old drive (still present in the computer) and show a list of all programs that were installed on the machine
4) I would then check off which programs that I want to be installed under my clean install
5) The program would then install all of those programs from the old drive onto the new drive...copying all associated registry settings, etc., from the old drive into the new install.

I realize this may not work for all programs, because any given program may write different information into the registry based on the version of Windows it was installed under.

Nonetheless, I think it would really cool!

Would I trust the program? Probably not. I would still do it the long way...sigh

Thanks for listening.
