Add to that, recent NIC's have a Power Saving Mode, which I found to be enabled by default on my Realtek NIC. So if the Power management side of the Computer hosting the data files is doing its thing, OOPS - Data Loss - Index Corruption - Perhaps. I would think that whatever computer is hosting the data files, whether it is called a server or not, should have all the power management features checked OFF. And the Write Caching OFF.
